Edinburgh Trams

After numerous ‘early stage' meetings with main contractor Bilfinger Berger in October 2008 VolkerGround Engineering were awarded the first piling works of the five hundred million pound Edinburgh Trams Scheme.

The contract involved the installation of temporary steel sheet piles in close proximity to the main Glasgow to Edinburgh Railway line. Due to strict Network Rail requirements the work was carried out during nightshift possession work spread over five weekend visits.

As this was Bilfinger Bergers first contract of this nature, VolkerGround Engineering advice and experience helped build a strong working relationship between all involved.
