John Swift Homes awards new sheet piling contract to VolkerGround Engineering

Recent

John Swift Homes has awarded VolkerGround Engineering a contract to design and construct a 120m temporary sheet pile basement retaining wall for a prestigious residential development at The Broadway in Hale, Cheshire.

To ensure the grounds and foundations are strong enough to allow basement excavations, VolkerGround Engineering will be constructing a temporary basement retention system which will comprise of 12m long AZ18-700 steel sheet piles, extending through soft sand and clay to a depth with more competent material.

Piles will be installed in an initial two week period using VolkerGround Engineering’s 14/17 ABI leader rig. Once the client’s construction has been completed, the piles will be extracted using crane suspended vibratory plant.

VolkerGround Engineering has an established relationship with John Swift Homes and has completed similar development works at other locations in 2014.

Chris Thomas, director of VolkerGround Engineering said: “John Swift Homes were pleased with the work that we completed in 2014, such that they contacted us once they had a similar development. Repeat business is important to us and is the best reflection of the quality of our design skills and site service, along with our abilities to complete projects that meet client expectations.”
