Anchorsholme

VolkerGround Engineering completed, on programme, a marine cofferdam constructed as a part of the enabling works following the grounding of the vessel ‘Riverdance' on an outfall pipeline off Anchorsholme near Blackpool.

The twenty five metre long by eight metre wide structure was constructed using twenty metre long sheet piles and acted as both support and a containment structure for the repair of the pipeline which will follow.

VolkerGround Engineering's early involvement in the development of the design solution lead to both the selection of the piles and the use of a self-elevating platform for these works. The selection of the self- elevating platform ‘Haven Seajack I' was developed in close association with Red7Marine who are part of our extensive network of plant and equipment suppliers.

On completion of the cofferdam the vessel remained on site for the duration of the repair works.
