Auchinstarry Basin

In March 2007 British Waterways required the installation of steel sheet piles into the bankside of Auchinstarry Basin.

The piles were used to retain the bankside in order to upgrade the existing crane platform. All of the piles were installed to the finished level using our 14m Zepplin leader rig. All of VolkerGround Engineering's plant uses biodegradable oil therefore the risk of pollution to the canal was kept to a minimum. As the works were over water we utilised a Mobile Elevated Working Platform to gain access for our Foreman to install the piles. The contract was finished ahead of schedule.
