VolkerGround Engineering carried out the installation of steel sheet piles to form the steel intensive car park basement of a new apartment block on the site of the former Rose & Crown Public House in Newcastle upon Tyne.
The ground conditions on site required us to pre-auger the pile line to assist with the rig driving however, an impact hammer was utilised to achieve the final level. The rock level on the site was lower than that shown on the borehole logs and pile extensions were welded on in order to meet the required design levels. This was our first contract for Mandale Commercial Ltd who after seeing our performance have became one of our biggest clients.
