The company, which has construction sites across the country, has launched the SafetyRipple campaign to promote a positive safety culture.

The ethos of the campaign is “every time you stand up for safety, you influence others to do the same.”

Rob Coupe, managing director for VolkerStevin, said: “We are rolling out a new programme of events and training this year to drive home the importance of behavioural safety within our business. It’s a number one priority for us because everyone deserves to go home safely at the end of their working day.

“During the year we’ll be engaging with all staff from those in the office to those out on site and challenging them to think about the way they are working and how they could make it safer.

“We’ll also be rolling out Safety Coaches who will visit every single site to look at how we are working and put into action any improvements we can make.

“The safety of staff at VolkerStevin is paramount to the values of the organisation and I’m delighted that our workforce has already shown great enthusiasm for the initiative.

“Although we already have robust systems in place and achieve an industry leading health and safety record, obviously anything we can do as a growing business to push the boundaries and minimise potential accidents we will do.”

The campaign was launched internally with a training workshop for staff which included actors playing out scenarios in the workplace. The SafetyRipple will be ongoing and will continue to promote a positive safety culture across the business.
