Silent piling – supercrush mode

At VolkerGround Engineering we offer cutting-edge silent piling in supercrush mode, a specialist technique designed to overcome the most challenging ground conditions, quietly, safely, and without vibration.

What is silent piling supercrush mode?

Supercrush mode is an advanced function of the Giken Silent Piler system. It combines hydraulic pressing with a rotary cutting mechanism, allowing piles to be installed through extremely dense or obstructive ground layers such as:

  • Hard clays
  • Dense gravels
  • Cobbles and boulders
  • Rock
  • Reinforced concrete or buried obstructions

This dual-action system cuts and presses simultaneously, enabling pile installation where traditional silent piling methods would struggle or fail.

How it works

  1. Rotary cutting head: Mounted at the toe of the pile, the cutting head loosens or fractures the ground ahead of the pile.
  2. Hydraulic pressing: The silent piler then presses the pile into the loosened ground with precision and control.
  3. Reaction-based system: Like standard silent piling, supercrush mode uses previously installed piles as a reaction base, eliminating the need for large rigs or cranes.

Key benefits of supercrush mode

  • Vibration-free and low noise – Ideal for urban, rail-side, or sensitive environments
  • Penetrates hard ground – Extends the use of silent piling into previously inaccessible strata
  • Minimally disruptive – No percussive impact, reduced risk to nearby structures and services
  • Environmentally friendly – Lower emissions, reduced spoil, and minimal surface disturbance
  • Highly accurate – Ensures precise pile alignment and depth control

Ideal applications

  • Infrastructure upgrades near live rail or utilities
  • Urban developments with strict noise/vibration limits
  • Projects requiring deep penetration through mixed or obstructive ground
  • Environmentally sensitive or heritage sites
