VolkerGround Engineering at Sizewell C
VolkerGround Engineering is proud to have successfully delivered works on behalf of Sizewell C's Civil Works Alliance.
Our scope included the installation of a 343m sheet piled retaining wall, as enabling works for the construction of a vital haul road connecting the temporary construction area to the main construction area.
The wall was comprised of AZ52 and AZ28-700 steel sheet pile sections, in lengths up to 20.2m. To achieve this, we deployed an RTG21 leader rig, supported by two 90-ton lattice crawler cranes for offloading, handling, and pitching of the piles. Additional works included the installation of weep holes to relieve pore water pressure and allow water passage.
All works were completed safely, on time, and to specification – supporting the progress of this nationally significant infrastructure project.
